Transforming Healthcare in Missouri: Advancing Innovation and Equity

On October 3, 2018, the Clark-Fox Policy Institute and the Center for Health Economics & Policy hosted Missouri health-policy makers, healthcare professionals, and keynote speaker Dr. Gloria Wilder at part two of Transforming Healthcare in Missouri: Advancing Innovation and Equity. 

Participants developed policy recommendations to address some of the most pressing issues in Missouri healthcare, including opioid addiction, fetal and maternal health, mental and behavioral health, and Medicaid expansion, which were delivered to a panel of Missouri health-policy makers.

The convening culminated with a keynote address by Dr. Gloria Wilder, M.D., a national leader and advocate for health equity. Dr. Wilder has held positions as Director of Community Pediatrics at Georgetown University Medical Center and Chair of Mobile Health Programs at Children’s National Medical Center. In addition to providing comprehensive health services as CEO/President of Core Health and Wellness Centers, Dr. Wilder is VP of Innovation and Preventive Health for Centene Corporation. In 2005, she joined the likes of Jimmy Carter and Mother Teresa when she was awarded the National Caring Award for exceptional generosity and commitment to service. In 2004, she was named Physician Humanitarian of the Year by George Washington University. She was also inducted into the prestigious Gold Humanism in Medicine Honor Society. Among her many awards includes the Oprah Winfrey Use Your Life Award. A nationally recognized speaker and expert on poverty and economic segregation in healthcare, Dr. Wilder’s work has been featured on the Oprah Winfrey show, CBS’ 48 Hours and NBC’s Dateline.
