Last month, students from across the region gathered at Hillman Hall at the Brown School to connect with their “why” as they enter the workforce and be inspired to bring a diverse and equitable lens to their future careers. The immersive, day-long IDEACon youth summit was organized by LEADSTL in partnership with the Clark-Fox Policy Institute. “We were honored to partner with LEADSTL to bring these changemakers together at the Brown School. These students already have a deep commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, and they are going to change the future of our region,” said institute Director Gary Parker.

During the event, high school juniors through college seniors met with local employers, industry innovators, and other young people to expand their network and learn about future career opportunities across six focus areas:

  • Education & DEIA
  • Engineering & Technology
  • Arts & Design
  • Business
  • Law & Politics
  • Medicine & Science

The day culminated in a Career & Resource Fair with local employers, supplemental education opportunities (study abroad, skills training, and more), and graduate programs! Tamyka Perine, Executive Director of LEADSTL, emphasized, “IDEACon is not just another conference—it’s a movement. By focusing on diversity, innovation, and social equity, we are preparing young leaders to make a tangible impact in their communities.”

This event was co-sponsored by LEAD STL and the Clark-Fox Policy Institute.
