Nicole Strombom

Nicole A. Strombom, JD, MPH, CPH (she/her) serves as the Pre-Doctoral Fellow for the Clark-Fox Policy Institute. She is a 4th year Public Health Sciences PhD student. Nicole is a Legal Epidemiologist and utilizes this methodology to understand how laws create social contexts that impact health outcomes. Currently, her research focuses on child, maternal, and family health. Nicole is a Graduate Student Affiliate of CRE2.

Prior to beginning her PhD studies, Nicole obtained a JD and MPH from Saint Louis University. During these academic pursuits, Nicole interned with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the Public Health Law Program as a Host-Site Intern for the Applied Research and Translation (ART) Team in the Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention, National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. This internship helped inform Nicole’s understanding on evidence-based research. Additionally, Nicole Interned with ACLU of Missouri, the National Health Law Program (NHeLP), and Legal Services of Eastern Missouri’s Medical Legal Partnership.

Nicole has worked in policy spaces for over a decade. Her first role in this space was Interning for California’s Dr. Richard Pan when he was an Assemblymember. She then served as a California Legislative Advocate working on a myriad of policy issues including clinical laboratory policy, water policy, and policies impacting cities. Nicole has a passion for social justice-based policy work.

When she is not wearing the hat of PhD student and researcher, Nicole is a mom to two little girls. She enjoys sewing, swimming, and playing board games. Nicole is Corgi obsessed!
