Racial Equity Summit

October 10, 2019 and October 11, 2019

October 10-11, 2019  /  Elevating, connecting, and activating the people, practices, and resources necessary to achieve Racial Equity in our region

The St. Louis region is preparing to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the #FergusonUprisings, the outpouring of civic activism following the killing of Michael Brown Jr. These actions signaled a seismic shift for the St. Louis region and catalyzed the first steps in laying down a new direction for the region, a path toward Racial Equity.

To recognize this moment in time, key regional organizations are planning a Racial Equity Summit on October 10-11, 2019, a platform for elevating, connecting, and activating the people, practices, and resources necessary to achieve Racial Equity.

The purpose of the summit is three-fold:

  • Reinforce the vital importance of putting Racial Equity at the forefront of our region’s agenda and acknowledge the people who have been unflinching in this work.
  • Highlight local successes, bold ideas, learning experiences, and best practices in the movement to advance Racial Equity.
  • Build alignment and investment in the Forward Through Ferguson framework for achieving equity by 2039.

The Racial Equity Summit’s inclusive agenda will drive inspiration, learning, and action, with programming for a broad range of stakeholders. To inspire, we will acknowledge activists, citizens, and champions whose devotion is unyielding, yet often unrecognized. Rousing keynotes will raise our spirits and ignite our commitment. Workshops will guide us toward action, expanding our capacity to catalyze and sustain the work.
