Stephanie Andersen, the Manager of the Clark-Fox Policy Institute, brings a wealth of experience from her 12-year tenure as the Manager of Research Translation at the Center for Public Health Systems Science (CPHSS) at the Brown School. Her background in translating scientific evidence into policy and practice makes her an invaluable asset to the CFPI team and the community we serve.
At CPHSS, Stephanie led numerous projects focused on bridging the gap between research and real-world impact. Notably, she trained researchers in effectively communicating the social and policy implications of their work using the Translational Science Benefits Model. Stephanie also collaborated with the CDC’s Office on Smoking and Health to develop best practices for tobacco control programs and played a pivotal role in disseminating research on tobacco retail policies. Her expertise in these areas will greatly contribute to our mission at the Clark-Fox Policy Institute.
In addition to her role at CFPI, Stephanie is a member of the Danforth Staff Council, which works to strengthen the lines of communication on matters that impact staff and to provide advice to university administration on policy decisions. Stephanie also serves on the Gephardt Institute’s Policy Advocacy Advisory Committee, which seeks to expand the portfolio of Policy Advocacy programs available to WashU students.
Stephanie holds a Master’s degree in Public Affairs from the University of Missouri and has previously worked for the Missouri Senate and Governor’s office, demonstrating her dedication to public service and making a positive difference in her community.
Beyond her professional achievements, Stephanie is a proud native of St. Louis. She cherishes quality time with her husband and three daughters. Her personal interests include reading, yoga, painting, and actively participating in her two oldest daughters’ Girl Scout troops as the Troop Cookie Manager.
